Total Bar, Zurich. Taken during a wonderful night out with Kristi. Mwah!
Jakob Kriesi, Model ship builder
What did you do with your hands today?
Did you create something?
If you did, what was it?
Was it real? Was it something you could hold in your hand?
Feel?
Sense?
Smell?
Did you love what you created? No matter how mundane, how simple, how extravagant or how wacky it was?
I met the man in the pic above on Friday as I was walking through the Niederdorf. He’s a modelship builder. I passed by and saw him as he was being so…intense…yet so full of love for what he was doing.
His name is Jakob Krisei. He saw me standing outside his shop trying to take a pic and beckoned me in. We talked. He smiled. He had an aura about him that was so full of love for what he was doing. It was warm. Inviting.
I wish I’d taken more pics of his masterpieces, but I felt as if I was disturbing something magical with my 21st-century technology. The pic above doesn’t do him, or his masterpieces, justice.
So you’ll just have to visit him yourself.:-)
So. What are you creating with your hands (other than being on the computer)?

A woman from Hermes handed me this at Central today. The boutique is taking pics of people in Hermes scarves. You try on their scarves, they’ll take a pic of you and hang it in the shop on Bahnhofstr. Brilliant way to get folks in.
Oh, they’ll be at Paradeplatz 15.00-16.00, then Kauflauten 16.00-19.00 I think.
