Kazakh PM: ‘Get blogging’

RT | Uncategorized | Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Or however that’s said in Kazakh.

Facing criticism about lack of press freedom and freedom of speech in his country, Kazahkstan’s PM Karim Masimov has ordered his ministers to blog.

Masimov already has a blog. I have no idea what it says.

According to Reuters, he wants all officials to start blogs “where people will be able to ask you questions that you must answer.”

On the one hand, perhaps this is a first step to reform. On the other, I’ve never seen a top-down blog project work. If you have to order folks under you to blog, then they’re not ready to blog.

Perhaps there are some young (or experienced, tech savvy ) members of his staff who will pick up the torch.
