I can totally understand where you're coming from in regards to the "non-race-based role". I Am Legend had a lot to be desired too. I didn't want to leave the theater when the credits started scrolling because I knew there had to be more to see of the movie.

Anywho, like you, my brother mentioned the novel by Neil Gaiman as well, as a slight comparison. He actually thinks Will Smith shouldn't take whatever role is offered to him. LOL However, I do plan on going to see it anyway.

@neoCarla - > Okay. :-) You know, I hate to slam a movie in which a black actor plays a non-race-based role, but Hancock left a lot to be desired. It seemed disjointed, like two movies that were smashed together with a plot line that seemed plausible at the beginning and then went into something that was totally unbelievable. The explanation for Hancock's existence just came out of nowhere. I'm trying not to give away too much.:-) Let's just say I felt as if the writers started off with a good story, ran out of steam and then picked up American Gods by Neil Gaimann for help.

I saw the movie Monster; but had no idea that Eileen Wuornos was a total loon! I must admit that Charlize Theron was good in the movie.

Regarding Hancock I have yet to hear a good review about the movie. Come on, tell your readers how it really is. :-)
